Today's Work:
We will be completing working on Mathalicious' "Fall of Javert" Lesson. As a class we will be completing Act One.
Class Findings:
Here are some of the big ideas that we got out of our class discussion:
- Quadratic functions do not have a constant rate of change.
- The second rate of change is constant. ("There is a pattern within the pattern")
- Quadratic functions make the shape of a parabola (a "U")
- The equations have an "x squared"
- Situations that are quadratic usually involve an object being effected by gravity. For example:
- rollercoasters
- skydivers
- throwing a ball
- rolling down a hill
