Here are some of the big ideas that we got out of our class discussion:
Quadratic functions do not have a constant rate of change.
The second rate of change is constant. ("There is a pattern within the pattern")
Quadratic functions make the shape of a parabola (a "U")
The equations have an "x squared"
Situations that are quadratic usually involve an object being effected by gravity. For example:
rollercoasters
skydivers
throwing a ball
rolling down a hill
