There are two methods that we use for solving systems of equations algebraically: substitution and elimination. Please watch the following videos and write down any questions you have while you are watching it!
Substitution:
This teacher is almost as goofy as I am. Feel free to skip parts. I know it's long!
Elimination:
Here he is again for your own joy and entertainment!
Important Information:
If you are asked to solve a system algebraically you may choose to use any method you like! You can also always use your calculator to check your work graphically.
However, if you are asked to solve the problem algebraically then you must show your work mathematically. Saying you graphed it on your graphing calculator will not count!
Practice:
Try these worksheets for some additional practice:
Big Idea:
Describe and give examples of when it is best to use each method for solving systems of equations. (Graphing, Substitution, and Elimination)
